Less than two weeks until the start of Apple’s WWDC, the major developer-focused event where new software for iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Macs is typically unveiled. In some instances, there have also been announcements for new hardware.
This year appears to be no different, as rumors abound about Apple’s enigmatic augmented reality headset, as well as a new 15-inch MacBook Air and the highly anticipated Apple Silicon-powered Mac Pro. It is therefore possible that in addition to software enhancements, there may also be some physical products showcased on stage.
Despite the fact that it’s not yet time for Tim Cook to appear on stage and announce it officially, we have some predictions for what we can anticipate at the June 5 keynote address.

The WWDC of this year will take place from June 5 to 9. The opening keynote is scheduled at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT) on June 5.
As in previous years, Apple will broadcast the keynote on its website.
What are our expectations regarding the Apple headset?
The primary speculation surrounding this year’s WWDC is the anticipated release of the Apple headset, according to reports by James Martin/CNET. The device is rumored to operate on a novel operating system called “xrOS,” combining the attributes of virtual reality and augmented reality into mixed reality. The device might comprise of eye and hand-tracking systems, coupled with high-resolution display. However, the speculations also suggest the possibility of a rather hefty price tag of $3,000.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg recently outlined how Apple intends to integrate sports, gaming, workout, and iPad applications into the headset to showcase the potential of the new platform. It remains to be seen whether this will be sufficient to generate excitement among consumers and convince them to pay $3,000, or to persuade developers to develop applications for it.
15-inch MacBook Air
The MacBook Air is one of Apple’s most beloved laptops, and the 13-inch model is often the most popular. However, Apple has also dabbled with different sizes in the past, such as offering an 11-inch version for many years. Currently, there are rumors circulating that the company is preparing to release a larger 15-inch MacBook Air powered by the M2 chip. This speculation comes from Bloomberg’s Gurman, who anticipates that the new laptop will be unveiled at this year’s event. It’s about time.
Although there are rumors of an upcoming announcement, it remains uncertain how much Apple plans to charge for the new Air and where it will fit within the current MacBook lineup. As of now, the 2020 model of the MacBook Air with M1 processor is priced at $999, while the 2022 M2-powered 13.6-inch MacBook Air will start at $1,199. On the other hand, a 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,499. It is possible that the 15-inch Air could be priced between these two models.
Mac Pro powered by Apple M-Series chipset
The Mac Pro of 2019, which was last updated by Apple at WWDC, has garnered anticipation. Although there have been confirmations of a new one in the works with the company’s Apple Silicon chips, Apple has been relatively tight-lipped about the highly capable computer. Could it be unveiled on June 5th? While it’s a possibility, Mac Pro enthusiasts should keep their expectations in check.
During his appearance on The MacRumors Show in April, Gurman, who is knowledgeable about Apple, hinted that though it won’t be at WWDC, the new hardware may still be released later this year.
Furthermore, along with all of the hardware speculations, it is anticipated that Apple will present details about the latest software updates to its iOS, iPadOS, WatchOS, and TVOS platforms that will be released this year.
One major iOS change expected is the possible inclusion of support for installing apps that are not downloaded from the App Store. Apple has traditionally been opposed to allowing sideloading on its mobile software, but recent European regulations may have compelled the company to reconsider its stance.
Apple may reveal additional software updates, such as a fresh app focused on mental well-being and the reintroduction of widgets to the Apple Watch.
