2022 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and Turbo S E-Hybrid
Stunning Performance with a Green Touch
Porsche introduces a luxurious plug-in hybrid to its Panamera lineup. The Panamera offers two gasoline-electric powertrains: the 4 E-Hybrid and the Turbo S E-Hybrid. These powertrains are available in standard sedan, the extended-length Panamera Executive, and the Sport Turismo wagon body styles, which is quite a variety to choose from.
Either way, one of these powertrain options is less powerful than the other and consists of a twin-turbo V6 engine that is accompanied by an electric motor. This particular configuration generates 455 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Alternatively, the stronger version employs a twin-turbo V8 engine which is also accompanied by a motor. This combination yields an impressive 690 horsepower and 641 lb-ft of torque. In both cases, an electric-only driving range of 17 to 19 miles is provided by a 17.9-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. In terms of fuel efficiency, expect to achieve an estimated 50 MPGe for each powertrain, which drops to less than half when operating solely on gasoline.

2022 Ford Escape Hybrid
A great driving experience wrapped in a small SUV hybrid
While Toyota is primarily known for producing hybrid cars, Ford has also produced a significant number of gas-electric vehicles as well. Even so, that may come as a surprise when you compare the new Explorer Hybrid to its little brother – the Escape Hybrid, which is an excellent vehicle to drive. The improved powertrain is smooth and quite potent, providing a respectable 200 horsepower. Fuel economy is the Escape Hybrid’s strong suit, offering 41 mpg combined for front-wheel-drive models. It’s hard to argue with that kind of efficiency. Furthermore, a plug-in version of the Escape Hybrid is also in development for those who need even more fuel efficiency.

2022 Toyota Avalon Hybrid
The Alternative to Gas-Guzzling SUVs
As Ford and other automakers move away from sedans, those seeking fuel efficiency without the bulk of an SUV have limited options. Fortunately, Toyota offers the Avalon Hybrid as a desirable alternative.
The spacious sedan is luxurious and cozy, boasting a roomy cabin and abundant sophistication. Beneath the bonnet lies a 2.5-liter petrol powerplant supplemented by twin electric motors, which produce a total output of 215 hp and a combined fuel economy of up to 44 mpg.
The XLE trim fulfills the basic functions and starts at approximately $38,000, which includes destination fees. It’s fortunate that the pricing is not determined by the size of its grille; otherwise, even Jeff Bezos wouldn’t be able to afford it.
